Mercedes Fuel System Issues

The inline six Mercedes fuel injection pumps run in a fuel pressure rail that is designed to maintain a constant supply of fuel for the pump to inject to the engine, and cool and lube the pump in the none injection stroke as the cam shaft lobes run the pump. It is critical that the fuel is delivered without air and the system is air tight. Once air is introduced into the system the pumps become aerators and compound the problem, it is very similar to hydraulic cavitations; this will result in a hard start or no start condition, low fuel pressure, and will cause the ECM to log codes for the injector pumps. That can lead to a wrong diagnostics of injection pump failure, that is; in fact just air in the fuel.

This is why it is very important to maintain good fuel system maintenance, let the professionals at SOS check out your Mercedes fuel system and help you avoid unnecessary and costly repairs.
